It's been fantastic to be here at Centrica's Leicester Training Academy.

I think we all know that over the coming years, probably how we get our energy is going to change, it's going to become green energy, it's going to become renewable energy.

But here's where we're actually training the people who are going to help us all go through that shift.

And it's been fantastic to see a training academy that is literally churning out people with the skills that this country needs and doing it in a way that is also really driving social mobility, so working with communities where those opportunities are really going to change lives for the better.

At the same time, actually, I've had a chance to see some of the innovation that's happening at a place like Centrica in relation to those new technologies, those air source heat pumps that many homes are going to have introduced in the coming years.

But I think what's been absolutely brilliant is to see all of the opportunities that that green economy shift, that net zero drive, are literally creating and if they can be opportunities that are open to that brand new generation and a really wide group of people then actually they're not just going to help us reach net zero they're also going to help us reach equality of opportunity too.

I had a great day in the Leicester lab with Justine Greening and the Purpose Coalition learning all about everything we're doing to train new apprentices.

Getting them match fit and out there supporting our customers, making net zero affordable and simple going forward.

What I've seen today is an amazing amount of work and innovation and brilliant ideas right across the spectrum, from boilers to water tanks to heat pumps and EV chargers.

And the enthusiasm in this place is incredible. There's so much learning and so much desire to get out there and help make our customers lives simple and affordable as we move towards energising a greener, fairer, future.
